Nora wasn't sure just how many people came into the lab, she was sure however that she was probably one of the best dressed. Explorer chic, the woman at the boutique had called it. Fresh off the Kalos catwalks. Sure, over the course of this journey, or whatever you wanted to call it, they would come under attack from bushes, pokemon and probably even the weather. But Nora was from Lumiose City, and if anyone thought that she would dress like a tramp then they were very wrong. Straightening the trilby on her head, she popped another piece of bubble gum into her mouth. Chewing calmed her down, but she would never admit that. Nora was the embodiment of confidence, NOTHING made her nervous! An obvious lie, but it was an impression she liked to leave.
Nora couldn't help but give the people she passed on her way to the lab little... looks. She had done a fair bit of research on the region (better to be prepared right?) and had become quite familiar with their pokemorph treatment thing. She couldn't help herself from giving everyone little sideways glances, trying to determine if they were just plain old human or something more abnormal. Apparently being a pokemorph was like being stylish in her hometown. A 'necessity'. Clothes were one thing, but changing your genetics? That seemed a little too extreme for Nora's taste.
As the lab came into view, Nora thanked Arceus for her decent English. Many people from across the globe came to Lumiose City, many of whom got Furfrou's and needed to get them trimmed. Nora had picked up bits and pieces from various languages but had only truly become fluent in English; one of her regulars was someone who had immigrated to Kalos and couldn't speak a word of French, so Nora taught her French and she taught Nora English. And finally it was paying off. As she slid through the doors to the lab, she took a moment to take it in. It was clean, it's a lab, it's supposed to be clean, she thought to herself. Popping her gum loudly, she quickly wandered over to the front desk. A sudden, rather intrusive thought about politeness invaded her brain for a moment, so she quickly pulled out her packet of gum and offered it to the person on duty. "Want some? It's strawberry."

It had been such a boring day. Jenny had literally fallen asleep behind the computer desk when Nora came in. She made sure to hide her face with the huge monitor when she did that, because Professor Willow had told her over and over again that the kids wouldn't respect her if they saw her slacking at her job. So she had worked out a way to tilt back in the chair, lean her head back onto it, and fall asleep just where only her right side was visible, frizzy hair sticking out wildly.
Of course, when Nora spoke, it lead to quite a shock. With a sputtering cry of indignation, the dark-skinned woman jerked forward, leaping onto her feet immediately, much taller than the average human female. She glanced down at the girl, heaving a sigh and plopping down into her office chair once more. "Dear lawd, ya really scared me." Her thick, southern accent rolled off of her pouty lips like molasses, slow and drawling. She rubbed one eye with a huge fist, blinking at Nora. "Ah, no. No thank you. Are you here for a Pokemon?"

As the giantess of a woman leapt out of her chair, Nora spluttered into a startled coughing fit. "I didn't realize you were asleep! Sorry about that!" She muttered in between coughs. Stuffing her gum into her pocket, her free hand grabbed at the tissue in her jeans. Quickly she covered her mouth, spitting her gum into as she did and muffling herself at the same time. Throwing the tissue and it's contents into a nearby bin, Nora appeared to have calmed down from the 'shock'. In reality she had been mentally repeating, don't laugh, don't laugh. Whatever you do, don't laugh. Keep on coughing, just don't laugh.
Finally taking a second to look at the woman she had woken up, Nora's eyes flickered from the untamed hair to the place her head had been when she had been standing. Nora's first thought was that this woman might just be one of those pokemorphs she had heard so much about. It seemed like a good business practice, to have a pokemorph manning the desk of the lab where the injection was created. Sort of like a walking, talking billboard! But Nora didn't want to pry, after all she might say something offensive and for all she knew this woman might have the ability to beat people into next week.
"Yes! I am actually." Nora swiftly said, her eyebrows slowly beginning to frown. "This... is where I'm supposed to go, right?" She asked, slowly looking around for a sign she might have missed. She couldn't see any signs, but she did see a lot of posters for the pokemorph injection. The sheer quantity of advertisements almost reminded her of home. But instead of being for clothes or shoes, they were for a potentially lethal injection - lovely.

Jenny watched the girl carefully from her chair as she spit out her gum and threw it down. Sitting up and cracking her knuckles, she winked at the girl. "Yeah hun, you're definitely in the right place! Just give me a second and we'll see what your options are..." She trailed off, leaning close to the screen and typing furiously on the keyboard. She hummed to herself, wiggling the mouse around a bit before hitting one last key. It was all a big show, in reality. She nodded, sitting back in her chair and scratching her chin. "Yeah, not too bad, I guess. There are a couple of duds in there, sorry girl."
She turned the large flat screen around, placing one big finger on it. She wouldn't have minded the Meowth or the Axew herself, but she always felt bad when there were Pokemon no one really wanted involved in the selections. For both parties. Those poor Pokemon would probably spend their lives here at the Laboratory, and that Trainer wouldn't get any legitimate options. She shook her head slowly, "Just pick one, and I'll fetch it fer ya." | | | | | Name: ? Species: Hippopotas Gender: ? "Huh..." Nora mused, rubbing her chin slightly. This was pretty big decision, and with apparent 'duds' thrown in she wanted to be certain that she had thought things through. The obvious choice would be to go for the Axew. It was a dragon type, which were pretty hard to come by and even harder to get on your team (in Nora's opinion at least). The Meowth might also be a good option, seeing as it had the pickup ability and Nora had always loved a freebie. That being said, Nora did loathe cats. She had worked with Furfrou for such a long time, getting a cat was a complete no-no! As for the others... The Hippopotas looked too slow for Nora's liking, the Oddish looked too frail and the Lotad looked sightly high. And Nora didn't really want to have a drug addict as a pokemon.
But if she went with the Axew, she'd be no better than her parents would she? Like them she'd have picked the one that looked the strongest and thrown the others to the wayside. As the wheels in her head began to turn, her choice slowly became obvious. "I'll take the Lotad." She replied firmly, giving a determined nod to Jenny. "Please." She added quickly.

Jenny watched the little girl closely as she made her decision. When she finally answered, Jenny was almost thrilled. The Lotad was the last thing she had expected her to choose. There was just some taboo that went with poor little Lotad's, although Ludicolo was definitely a Pokemon Jenny could get down with. Those little guys could really dance!
Offering the girl a huge smile, the big woman stood and turned on her heel. "Just gimme a second hun!" She called over her shoulder as she disappeared behind two double doors. They swung closed behind her large bottom, and she disappeared from view.
Once inside, Jenny sped through the shelves, search for L. "Lotad, Lotad...Aha!" She exclaimed excitedly when she had found the correct Pokeball, and quickly returned to Nora. She slid the Pokeball towards her and reached under the desk, bringing out a huge bag and slapping it down on the corner. "There ya go, sweetie. Everything you're gonna need to get yaself started. Got any questions?" Species: Lotad Gender: ? Nora wasn't exactly sure what she had signed herself up for by picking the Lotad. She had never really bothered with Pokemon before, and while she had gathered that she wasn't picking the 'best' choice, the smile the tall woman gave her both calmed and unnerved her. It was friendly, that was obvious, but she seemed so... Nora just couldn't put her finger on it. Hurrying these thoughts out of her brain, Nora waited for Jenny's return. If she were being honest, Nora was actually very excited. She'd tell her friends back home that it was 'nothing special' and her parents that 'it wasn't anything major', but deep down she wanted to get her Pokemon and find an adventure to chase.
When Jenny did return, Nora quickly took the pokeball and fixed it firmly to her belt. "Thanks for the help!" She laughed, as she swung the bag onto her shoulder. She'd organize all her stuff later, right now she wanted to head out onto the road. "I think I'm good. For now." She grinned and after a quick wink, Nora was off, striding out of the lab and into who knows what. Nora certainly didn't. What she did know, was that it was going to be fun.
