The flight had been tiresome, but the attendant had had one of the best asses he had ever seen, so there was little to complain about. He was almost sorry he hadn't gotten her number when he stepped off of the plane. Almost. She was rather boring, as were most women to him at this point. Plus, he had other things on his mind, things that involved Pokemon. He didn't love the creatures half as much as he loved a good ass, but now was not the time to be focusing on things like that. He needed to clear his head and think about his strategy for this region.
He hadn't had much time to study up on Decona, but the main focus put out for the region was the Pokemorph injection. It didn't seem much different from most of the other places he had been besides that tasty piece of information. As he sauntered towards the lab, as he had done several times before, he smirked to himself. Perhaps that injection wasn't too bad of an idea. His only worry would be if it would somehow make him less attractive. That was something he definitely didn't want.
He entered the laboratory with a sheepish grin, hands jammed into his pockets. He approached the front desk slowly, looking left and right to take in the lab.

As Atticus walked in, he found the Lab strangely empty. Not a soul could be seen, not even at the reception desk - it was occupied only by a computer, its screen facing toward him. But it seemed to detect his presence, its screen lighting up - and soon a recorded voice droned through the room. "Welcome to the Fully Automated Intelligent Laboratory. This is an experimental system designed to oversee the duties of a Lab receptionist. Please email all feedback to ZOROARK-RULES AT DECONA LAB DOT COM." Well. This was gonna be interesting. "This system has detected that you have no Pokemon, and thus has determined that you are here for a starter. If this is incorrect, please say GO BACK." It allowed a pause for confirmation. "Very well then. Please wait a moment while your starters are chosen." The labored whirring of the outdated computer's hard drive could be heard. Then, finally: "...Thank you for waiting. Here are your choices!" A quintet of Pokemon appeared on the screen. | | | | | Name: ? Species: Makuhita Gender: ? "To make your choice, simply say the name of which one you'd like. This system recommends you choose ARCEUS." ...What? Arceus wasn't even a valid choice. This thing had a few screws loose.

Atticus was rather unsure of what to say once he realized that no human resided behind the desk. Usually there was a lab assistant or a cute receptionist there to help. He was rather disappointed at the immediate lack of women, but approached the desk none the less. He was leaning over it in an attempt to peer around behind it when the computer began "speaking". When the screen lit up, he flinched, much to his embarrassment. He smoothed his tight shirt along his stomach and cleared his throat as it spoke, staring at the screen with one cocked eyebrow.
He analyzed all the Pokemon available, all of which he had experienced in some form in the past besides the Litwick. The little candle-like Pokemon looked weak to him, so he dismissed it immediately. It ended up being a tie between the Makuhita and the Sableye. The breaker was that the Sableye was more aesthetically pleasing than the fighting-type. He shook his head and grinned when the computer mentioned "Arceus". To have control over that God... Impossible, surely. Atticus rolled his shoulders once before speaking one word, "Sableye."

"Congratulations! You have chosen MAGIKARP." The computer paused, then loudly buzzed and whirred. "...SABLEYE. Lab personnel have been informed of your choice. Please wait for them to arrive."
A handful of minutes passed (it wasn't long, but it was a surprisingly agonizing wait) before a human finally appeared. But unfortunately, still no women - it was a balding, middle-aged man.
"Ah, crap, who set up the FAIL?" the man grumbled. "Sorry about that. We're supposed to keep someone out here at all times so that thing never takes over. It's pretty... buggy, as you've probably seen firsthand."
"...anyway, here's your Sableye, along with your starter pack. Pokedex, TM case, two Potions, five Pokeballs. Everything you need to start an adventure!" He smiled a bit wistfully - quietly wishing that he could go on an adventure - but alas. He'd never been able to convince his boss to let him give it a try.

Atticus wasn't much for technology, but he knew something had to be up with this computer. Magikarp? Fuck that. He'd made the mistake in Kanto of purchasing one of the annoying fish. Later he found out that it evolved into quite the monster, but was all the work really worth it? He shook his head at the screen as the older man entered.
He stared at the man as he spoke, not bothering to respond. All he could manage was a nod, and internally hope that his hair never looked like that. When the man finally gave him his things, Atticus shouldered his pack and took the ball. He moved it about in the palm of his hand before jamming it into his pocket. "No thanks, man. I've got it." He turned on his heel and pushed through the doors of the lab, throwing up one big hand in farewell.
