No New Posts Trainer's PC

Every accepted character should have a corresponding PC thread containing (at the very least) information on their Pokemon, their inventory, their finances, and the threads they have participated in or are currently participating in. This is just our way of making sure you keep organized, so that no one has to dig to find the information they may need while roleplaying! If you aren't sure what you need to have in your character's PC thread or what the expected format is, there is an example thread and a help thread within this board which should give you all the information you'll need.

IC: Decona Region

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Pumice Rock

This is the island in the center of the Decona region, and is so called because it was formed long ago out of lava which burst forth from the volcano in the middle of the massive Umbil Lake. The volcano is now inactive, and though there are not many inhabitants, a huge research center was built there over 30 years ago on the mostly-untouched island. Few Decona natives know what goes on in the lab, although there are a vast number of conspiracy theories, and a disproportionate number of Pokemorphs live on the island and work within the facility… At the lab, new trainers can ask for a Pokemon to begin their journey with, or may assist the lab aides in their research in other ways. There is a small town which has sprung up around the lab, and there is a hotel there, as well as a Pokemon Center and some restaurants and small, local shops, so if one plans on staying for long on Pumice Rock, it is possible without needing to camp out. However, since there is not much to do or see on the island for those who are not interested in science (and even those who are interested will likely not be allowed to see much of the lab), most new trainers and visitors quickly opt to take the ferry off the island and into the mainland. There are several ports on the island, manned by stern-faced Pokemorph captains, and it is possible to catch a ferry to just about anywhere in the region from here.

No New Posts Umbil Lake

This massive lake surrounds Pumice Rock and rests at the center of the Decona mainland. It is possible to travel across the lake to traverse the region relatively quickly, and docks located on Pumice Rock and around the mainland are usually manned by locals willing to ferry travelers across the water. Small pedal-boats can be rented at some locations, notably at the Pumice Rock docks, allowing for exploration of the lake; however, wild Pokemon do tend to get curious about these slower, smaller vessels.

No New Posts Midocian City

A shining city of gold stretching high into the sky and surrounded by a glassy dome, Midocian City is a true wonder to behold. The city itself seems to embody wealth, class, and luxury; the roads and buildings glisten as if they were made of solid gold, and bright colorful lights glow at night like gems faceting the elaborate structures, while during the day greenery and particularly the two well-maintained public parks stand out like emerald oases. Towards the easternmost end of the city is a massive water park which, though pricey, has enough attractions to keep anyone busy for a full day or two; this part of the city is one of the two areas which is not colored gold, as silver is a much better compliment to the shimmering blue water. The remaining part of the city which does not glow with gold is far less conspicuous: it is the underground sewer system, connecting to pipes which reach above-ground and drain filth and muck into Umbil Lake. This damp, foul-smelling under-city houses innumerable homeless individuals who could not afford the growing cost of living within Midocian as it was developed and taken over by the very wealthy. It also is a home to the Midocian Gym, unlikely a place as it may seem for an official Pokemon League establishment.

No New Posts Denton Village

Though relatively small and certainly slower in pace than the big cities of Decona, Denton Village is hugely important to the entire region. Most of the region's food is grown or raised in the fields surrounding Denton and then brought into the village for selling; though Midocian used to be the region's primary merchant town, in recent times Denton has taken over that role. Still, because so much of Denton's produce and meat is sent directly from the farms to Graucan and Midocian, Denton Village remains rural and small-town in nature. Travelers are often charmed by Denton's rustic buildings and restaurants known for their home-style cooking, but asides from the aesthetic and fresh produce the village boasts, as well as a small Pokemon Center for trainers to utilize, there is not much here that would draw crowds.

No New Posts Denton Fields

Beautiful farms and well-cultivated fields line either side of the dirt road leading north and south from Denton Village, with a higher concentration of them to the north. Though there aren't many wild Pokemon living in the fields, flying-types overhead may swoop down to pick a fight or catch Rattata scurrying through the cornrows, who also happen to be the prey of wild cats like Meowth and Purrloin. It is also not terribly uncommon to see wild Poochyena, Houndour, and other predatory pack Pokemon roaming near the farms, constantly on the lookout for an opening to sneak off with a stray Mareep or Miltank. More frequently, though, travelers will come across local farmers, some of which will ask favors of travelers with time on their hands, and some who will be looking for a quick friendly battle.

No New Posts Terren City

This great wonder of the Decona region is a massive sprawling city existing entirely within the Terren Caves. Though the lighting is dim compared to sunlight, of course, the city is lit all throughout, enough that it's quite easy to get around even without a light source of your own. The ceiling of the cave is very high, so buildings of as many as ten stories high are not uncommon. In fact, buildings of this height are a necessity, since there is no room for the city to expand outwards safely. Though many of the buildings are residential, there are numerous restaurants and businesses scattered throughout, all importing goods from nearby Denton Village and Graucan Port. Greenhouses are also quite common, since they allow residents to grow their own herbs and vegetables without needing to import from the surface; the Terren Gym is actually located on the first floor of a massive multi-story greenhouse near the center of the city. There is a central road that cuts straight through the middle of Terren and leads out into the dark cave tunnels on either side of the city.

No New Posts Terren Cave

Though both entrances to the cave are surrounded by thick forest, there is a clear path leading into the cave's mouths, and there are even signs in the cave which point the way to Terren City and on to the exit. The problem is that the cave is completely unlit except for around Terren City, and as a result it is very hard to stick to the marked path without bringing some lighting of your own. Wild Pokemon live in the offshoot tunnels of the cave, and if you delve too deep, you run the risk of getting horribly lost. Luckily, Terren natives do send out the occasional search party to check for travelers who may have lost their way, but they generally operate under the assumption that any traveler who gets lost badly enough probably met their demise at the hand -- or tooth, or claw -- of some Pokemon living there, so they don't look especially hard.

No New Posts Graucan Boardwalk

This long stretch of shops and food shacks overlooks the beautiful beach and ocean to the west of Graucan Port. The oceanway is sturdy water-resistant wood facade with a concrete base, and it goes on for miles until the beach gradually becomes more and more rocky. When the weather is good, the boardwalk is crowded with families and couples in bathing suits, as well as with trainers and their Pokemon and street performers who are looking to make some money and entertain tourists. The latter two categories tend to overlap; performers with their Pokemon will put on a show for vacationers walking by, and may even challenge other trainers. Of course, there are also some wild Pokemon living in the ocean, only a short swim away. Occasionally a Sharpedo or two will swim too close to the beach and the lifeguards will call everyone out of the water, or Tentacool and Frillish will drift in and wash up on the sand, but otherwise the wild Pokemon are relatively peaceful and even these events present a great opportunity for trainers. Wingull and Pidove fly overhead and pick at fallen food, and overall the boardwalk has something for everyone, as long as they don't mind a little salt air and sun.

No New Posts Graucan Port

One of the biggest cities in Decona by far, Graucan Port is a bustling place, and the gray, solid buildings stretch high into the sky every which way you look. Shops, businesses, cafes, and street peddlers decorate every corner, and when one wishes to get away a bit from the rush of the city, the boardwalk is never far away. As it is a port city, ships are constantly coming and going, bringing exotic people and Pokemon and goods with them. There is much to see and do here; the key is not getting overwhelmed by it all! The water-type gym is located here, although the gym leader, Arina, is almost constantly away on one of the cruise ships which travel to and from Lunita Island. Her gym has thus become a popular public pool and it is very well-maintained, making it a nice place to go for a dip if salt water doesn't suit your fancy. Plus, water-type trainers flock there for friendly battles.

No New Posts S.S. Angeli

The S.S. Angeli is the main cruise liner which makes trips between Graucan Port and Lunita Island. Though relatively small for a cruise ship due to the brief nature of its journeys, the S.S. Angeli offers all kinds of luxuries for her passengers, including a gourmet buffet, art auctions, live entertainment, a pool on the top floor of the ship, and comfortable, roomy cabins for passengers to retreat to when they need a place to relax and rest during their day-long cruise. Pokemon are of course welcome on all S.S. Angeli voyages, though it is requested that any battles which occur are conducted carefully to avoid damages to the ship and without disrupting other passengers. Crew members will interrupt any battles which they deem unnecessarily destructive or disruptive. The Graucan Gym leader, Arina, is perhaps the most famous and most frequent passenger of the cruise liner. She spends more time lounging by the pool on the S.S. Angeli than she does at her gym, so any prospective challengers should seek her out here if they can't find her in Graucan Port.

No New Posts Lunita Island

This crescent-shaped island south of the mainland is a favorite getaway spot for those within the Decona region. It is told in legends that Cresselia visited and blessed the island long ago; ever since, Cleffa and Clefairy have been found in abundance on the island, and natives have held great reverence for the moon. During the day, the pink sand beaches are a main attraction, and there are all manner of boating, snorkeling and diving activities available to tourists. The warm sun and beautiful, blue, crystal-clear waters make any experience on the water a memorable one! Hikes and trail rides through the lush green hills are also popular, and there are several crystal caves on the island that are filled with stalagmites and stalactites and which feature underground lakes. At night, casinos and clubs in the cities are always hopping with energy and filled with people, and there are frequent festivals in Cresselia’s name. For trainers, there are several Pokemon resorts to visit. Just remember: on an island like this, everything has a high price!

No New Posts Breezy Grasslands

Between the fire fields of Ambus town and the big city of Graucan Port stretches a large, grassy field. Though it may not seem as exciting as the forests and caves and lakes of Decona, these grasslands are teeming with wild Pokemon that burrow beneath the earth and hide behind the tall grass, as well as some birds flying overhead searching for prey, and the skies are always clear out in the field once you've moved far enough away from Graucan. The grasslands are also home to a very important facility for the whole of Decona: the Decona Power Plant is situated in the south of the field. Huge metal windmills pierce the skyline and are dotted all over the southern grasslands, and a massive metal-and-concrete building sits at the center of the arrangement. The power plant may be all the breezy grasslands have to offer by way of exciting attractions, if one could call the plant that, but that's not to diminish the importance of the power plant; after all, without it, there wouldn't be enough electricity to power the region!

No New Posts Fire Fields

There are plenty of beautiful and interesting sights in Decona, but perhaps one of the most unusual and breathtaking are the Fire Fields surrounding Ambus Town. The fields are so named not because they are actually on fire, of course, but rather due to the vibrant flowers growing wild all over; they bloom in yellows, reds, oranges, and whites, and there are so many that it is hard to see the grass beneath them. The high concentration of flowers gives the field the appearance of being ablaze! Strangely, these flowers do seem to attract fire-types in addition to the expected bug- and grass-types, and even more strangely, the flames from these Pokemon do not seem to have any negative impact at all on the flowers. No natives of Ambus Town can recall a fire ever breaking out in the Fire Fields, even with so many fire-types living in the area. Many Deconians believe the fields are supernatural in nature due to the strange properties of the flowers growing here. The thick flowers nearly conceal that there are many huge burrows tunneled beneath Ambus Town and the fields, and the entrances to these burrows are often large enough that even humans can explore a bit! The burrows tend to be very muggy and uncomfortably-warm, but plenty of Pokemon that might only rarely wander above-ground live down here, and it is rumored that a huge Volcarona and her brood lives right at the heart of the tunnels directly below the center of Ambus Town.

No New Posts Ambus Town

Because of the sheer number of fire-type Pokemon living around and directly below Ambus Town, the town is warm year-round. The consistently pleasant climate and beautiful scenery make Ambus a popular retirement spot. Though it may not be the most exciting place in the region, Ambus Town does boast the largest library in Decona, and many of the younger residents (as well as the older ones) are historians and storytellers who are happy to share some of their vast knowledge with interested visitors. In addition, the mystical nature of the Fire Fields does tend to draw travelers to the town, and of course the Ambus Gym is a necessary stop on any trainer's journey. The gym is located within the town bathhouse's sauna facility, and the leader, Terentia, likes to test challengers' stamina by holding battles inside one of the heated sauna rooms.

No New Posts Forest of Strangling Sprigs

The dirt path in this ancient forest has long since been overgrown, and any names it has been given have not stood the test of time. Some who like to wax poetics call it "the forest of strangling sprigs," as the tree roots and underbrush are so gnarled that they are likely to trip and even smother a careless traveler -- and rumor has it they come alive at night, possessed by vengeful and playful spirits alike. The trees also conceal the home of a woman who is known throughout the region as a witch. Many Deconians avoid travelling through the forest at any cost, preferring to travel across Umbil Lake instead.

No New Posts Buteston

The middle of a marsh is not the best place for a settlement, all things considered, but the fishermen and trainers of Buteston don't even seem to notice. Unfazed by the reek of the marshlands and by the dangerous Pokemon which lurk all around town, Buteston natives go about their lives without a hitch, fishing at the wee hours of the morning and selling their catch of the day locally or down in Graucan City. This small grouping of homes and shops is all built upon wooden docks that elevate the settlement above the water, and hanging from the docks and buildings are glass lanterns which are lit before sundown every night; the misty glass encasing the flames protects them from inclement weather, which allows just enough light to get around by even during one of the area's frequent storms. Still, the atmosphere of the marsh at night is eerie, and the hazy glow of the lanterns does little to comfort most visitors. The two biggest buildings in Buteston are the Pokemon Center and the Butes Gym, both of which are built upon the docks and constructed of wood like the rest of the town. They are located on the westernmost end of town, right next to the docks connecting to Umbil Lake.

No New Posts Butes' Marsh

The forest to the south of Buteston gradually becomes swampland the further north one travels, and before long opens up to marshland which surrounds Buteston. During the day, the marsh is relatively easy to navigate; the dirt paths through the tall grass and water are a bit squishy and muddy, but several wooden bridges and docks are erected along the central road to make passage easier. One simply needs to watch their step to avoid slipping into the water, which only becomes difficult when the sky is overcast or, Arceus forbid, when it is raining. However, at night, there is very little lighting to travel by, which dramatically increases the chance of making a misstep, and hungry water- and poison-types often lurk in the grass or beneath the water at night. Travelers frequently report seeing beautiful, almost hypnotizing lights floating about in the darkness, though. Oddly enough, most who make it to Buteston to talk about these lights are the ones who chose to ignore them and continue on their way; they usually will express that they found themselves afraid of the lights even as they were drawn towards them, and locals will grin and make a few jokes about ghosts and demons lurking in the dark. Scattered throughout the marsh are small wooden shacks raised above the water and situated on docks, and a traveler who gets lost in the dark may be lucky enough to happen upon one, although not all of the fishermen who live in these shacks are friendly.

No New Posts Marit Bay

Much like Graucan, Marit Bay is considered a port city, and most of the residents of Marit make their livings on the sea. However, the place is far more unusual than all that; Marit Bay is full of pirates and bounty hunters and treasure hunters of all kinds, and in a place like Marit, only the strong, the clever, and the charismatic can survive and thrive. Its a strange city both in terms of its rabblerousing populous and its very old, coarse appearance. Marit is historically one of the oldest cities in Decona, and many of the original buildings erected here, crafted from strong water-resistant wood and stone, are still standing today. Marit boasts innumerable pubs, pawn shops, and strange niche shops of all kinds with wares acquired from across the sea. Its most popular attraction, though, is the Marit Gym, led by flying-type master Keaton. The gym is set up in the lighthouse by the docks, where Keaton typically awaits at the very tippy-top. To the northeast of the city the docks stretch out into the ocean, and seemingly every inch of those docks are lined by little private vessels illuminated by the sweeping beam of the lighthouse. The sea this side of Decona is constantly churning and choppy with harsh waves and winds, but far off in the distance, beyond the many ships out at sail and the towering waves, a small island is visible and reachable for those who have the mettle. To the southwest of Marit Bay, a long drawbridge leads out of the city and connects to the sturdy road bridging the gap between a large portion of Umbil Lake.

No New Posts Roiling Sea

The waters around Marit Bay always seem to be churning and restless, and for trainers looking to make it to the Colosseum as the final destination in their League journey are in for a rough trip. Between the violent waves and stormy weather, the sea alone has claimed plenty of wannabe champions. To make things tougher, small pirate ships are anchored all over the stretch of sea between Marit Bay and the Colosseum, and these pirates love to challenge (and sometimes rob) unsuspecting trainers. This is the final stretch! Be ready to fight your way through!

No New Posts The Colosseum

Though its name may sound grand, the Colosseum appears to be little more than a massive crater in the center of a small island surrounded by roiling sea. Stone steps lead into the pit on the east and west sides, and the ground at the bottom is a wide expanse of hard-packed dirt and rock, though frequent rain tends to turn the terrain to mud. At the north and west sides, two doorways lead into the rock walls lining the pit, and these doorways open up into underground bunkers of sorts, providing shelter during rough sea storms. And that is all there is to the Colosseum. Despite its lack of pomp and grandeur, this is the staging location for trainers' final challenge against the Elite Four of the Decona region. These four extremely talented trainers spend much of their time living out of the underground bunkers and training against the pirates on the open sea surrounding the island, and as a result, they will be perhaps the toughest challenge for any trainer in Decona. Pirates will often come ashore to watch battles in progress and cheer or jeer at challengers from the sidelines.
