Pooch was not the sort to wax poetic, especially not about ferry rides - having lived his whole life in Decona, he'd had plenty of those and would have plenty more - but even he had to admit that something about this one felt different. He was about to begin his career as a Pokemon trainer - he was taking his first step into something bigger and better than himself. And with any luck, he'd never have to set foot in Midocian again.
Upon arrival at the Pumice Rock docks, he nodded to the boatman, tossed a coin his way, and then eagerly set off for the Lab. It wasn't far away - and each step brought him closer to beginning his new life.
"...Shit, man. I've been reading too many books." He chuckled, quietly mocking his own thoughts. Now standing just outside the lab, he lit up a cigarette and took a few puffs. Just enough to calm his nerves. Then, with a nod to himself, he extinguished it and stepped inside, eyeing the person behind the counter.
"Hey, uh... 'sup. I'm here for a starter."

Jenny was filing her nails when the young Pokemorph entered the lab. Before he made it to the desk, she glanced sideways to look him over. Dark pants, bright shirt, very dark skin. She mulled over the other regions in her mind and decided he was a Pokemorph as he approached, for his skin was an inhuman grey. Upon closer inspection, she noticed the black throughout. He spoke before she had time to, and although she felt mildly disrespected by the young man - a feeling she couldn't pinpoint the basis of - she immediately nodded and responded.
"Yes sir, you're definitely in the right place!" She offered him a huge grin before the big woman swiveled in her chair to face the huge, flat screen computer. With a few furious clicks, she nodded and began to swivel the screen around. "Here's what we got for you today, son." She glanced at the screen herself. She would have picked the Machop, or maybe the Shinx. Who knew what these kids liked, anyways.

"Oh, hey." Pooch nodded to the lady at the desk. He was somewhat happy that she was dark-skinned too, though hers was a natural tint, unlike his own. Ah well. "Thanks. This must be a cool job, heh." He nodded to himself and considered the monitor, allowing himself a low 'hmm' as he viewed each choice. He ruled out Seedot rather quickly (its only attack was Bide? Ugh, no thanks) but the others were all quite decent... it really just came down to which he liked most.
...well, he'd always had a soft spot for Dark and Fighting types. So it was Vullaby and Machop that most caught his eye, though the Shinx was somewhat tempting too...
But it didn't take long for him to reach his final decision - after all, he'd done quite enough standing around and navel-contemplating back in Midocian.
"...I'll take the Vullaby," he said, voice quiet and assured.

Deciding quickly that she liked the young man, Jenny offered a huge grin. "It's an alright job. I got it because I wanted to help new trainers out, but you would be surprised how often they don't even bother thanking you." She was very glad he had offered her a tidbit of conversation. She sat alone in the front of the lab all day, and although she had access to all of the available Pokemon, she wasn't allowed anywhere but here and the storage area. "I'm thinking about getting the injection soon, too, you know. Still trying to decide what I want." She winked at him cheerfully before standing and disappearing behind the double doors that lead to storage.
She returned after a few moments with one ball clasped in a large hand. She dipped to reach underneath the counter before slinging a big bag onto the top. She slid the Pokeball towards him, smiling. "If ya got any questions, ask! If not, you're free to go!" Species: Vullaby Gender: ? "Ah, yeah. Some people are just ungrateful dicks." He grunted and gave a sympathetic shrug. At least it looked sympathetic. "And, uh, maybe y'don't want to hear this, but - think long and hard before you get that injection. If you're just doin' it because your parents want you to, or because everyone else is doin' it, or somethin' like that, then forget it. But if you actually want it, well..." He slowly considered her with a quiet 'hmmm'. "...then I think you'd make a good Ponyta or Flygon morph." He chuckled softly.
"Anyway, no questions. I'm outta here. But hey, let me know if y'go through with it - here's my number." He smiled and gave her his digits, then walked off, a-whistling all the way. No matter whether she called or not, at least he'd accomplished one thing today: he had his first Pokemon. And now it was time to go out into the big, wide world.
