Jamie kicked a tree, crying out in frustration over his dilemma. That damned witch had placed a curse on him! And there was jack shit he could do about it, too. He didn't fancy his chances of going back to confront the crazy barely-human woman, and he didn't know anyone who might be able to get rid of curses. The curse would make his life a hell of a lot harder, too. As far he could tell, it silenced him whenever he was rude or swore- something like that. He wasn't used to communicating in other fashions, he felt uncomfortable doing so. He was going to have to avoid speaking whenever he could, now... Shit. The angered teenager kicked the same tree again, shouting out a loud "Fucking shit!" to vent his frustrations vocally as well as physically. And he was silenced again. Not that he cared right now, he didn't need to speak. It only seemed to be temporary too, but it changed. Sometimes it was for a few seconds, others for a minute or two. Seemed to be effected by how severe it was. Joy. After looking angrily at the tree for a while, Jamie grumbled to himself in order to confirm that he could speak again. With that done he looked around, pulling out a Pokeball from his pocket and watching for any wild Pokemon or a person that looked like they might be a trainer. He wanted a fight, and he wanted one now. He didn't care with whom.

Much to Jamie's delight (and likely soon to be much to the other person's regret) he found a fellow Trainer in the woods - one wearing the garb of a Pokemon Ranger, no less. He seemed to be conducting some sort of training exercise with his Pokemon - sending them through rough terrain, having them exchange attacks and evasions, that sort of thing - until their concentration was disturbed by Jamie's loud profanity. "I beg your pardon!" said the Ranger, in the best scolding, fatherly voice he could conjure, as he stepped toward Jamie. "Now what on earth gives you the right to use such language!? I ought to teach you a lesson!" The man's three Pokemon had formed up behind him, taking up fighting stances. It seemed violence was about to ensue. ...there was just one strange thing about this whole situation: there were no Rangers in Decona. None native to the region, at least - this guy was outside his jurisdiction.

The teenager smirked at the Ranger, his eyes measuring the man with glee. Finally he was getting lucky, a fight against a trainer was just what he needed. The guy seemed a little self-rightous, but really that'd just make beating him that much more fun. "I have every right to choose the language that I speak, do I not?" He said, being careful not to say anything that'd activate the curse.
"Come on then, fight me." He moved his Pokeball forward, releasing Caius from the Pokeball. It was time for his first battle Pokemon to get into it's first battle. The Eevee got into a fighting position, hind legs ready to move as soon as ordered. The teenager pointed his finger at the Ranger. "This is my first real battle, you know. This day could be lucky for you, you're about to be the first win for the future Champion of Decona."
Jamie didn't know much about Rangers, he had no idea the man was out of his juristiction. Not that it particularly mattered to him.

"Hmph... fine! You asked for this!" the man growled. "I've been training my Pokemon to fight punks like you! C'mon Elgyem, let's go!" The Elgyem made some rather mechanical-sounding noises as it hovered forward. Female | Level 5 Confusion, Growl "Use Confusion, now!" He pointed at the younger man's Eevee. Elgyem obeyed, sending a focused wave of psychic energy through the air. If the attack successfully made contact with Caius, it would give him quite a headache to say the least. But unfortunately neither the Ranger nor the Psychic type had considered the idea of following up their attack with a Growl - so the Eevee would be at full strength if it managed to launch a counterattack. But neither human nor Elgyem seemed too concerned by this thought - perhaps it just hadn't crossed their minds. Or perhaps they were hoping that the Eevee would become confused and hurt itself instead of its opponent. Either way, the die was cast. There was no going back now. You are challenged by Ranger Rick! Elgyem uses Confusion!

"Hmpf." Went Jamie, who crossed his arms as he observed the scene before him. A confusion, is that all? This so-called 'Ranger' wasn't very good, it seemed. The teenager felt like he had already won.
Caius took the attack, cringing as the psychic energy hit him. He yelped, though it wasn't particularly loud, before readying himself for his inevitable command from his own trainer. As if he was going to let himself lose to such a lesser Pokemon. Pah!
"Caius, Tackle them." Jamie said, his voice commanding yet not so loud it could be called a shout. He had been practicing his voice for this, and he wanted it to be perfect. The Eevee followed the order, lowering his's body before leaping at the Psychic-type and slamming against her with the greatest force he could manage. Caius's Adaptability ability made the attack even stronger due to it being the same type as him.
"Sand Attack." The teenager said as he pointed his hand forward. The Normal-type followed the order again, landing back on the ground and turning around to push the dirt of the ground into the Elgyem's face. It would make dodging easier, hopefully.

[Sorry for the wait :x]
The ranger watched as Confusion hit its mark and grinned to himself for a moment... then frowned a bit as he considered his previous move. "Oh drat, I forgot about Growl... Elgyem, next time let's use Growl, alright?"
The rocky Psychic-type Pokemon didn't seem to acknowledge his words, probably because it was busy being tackled by an Eevee - an Eevee who then kicked dirt in her face.
"Sand Attack!? Bah! How dare you use such dishonorable tactics!" The man flailed angrily. "I'm reporting you to Ranger HQ!"
Meanwhile his Pokemon continued the battle, the Elgyem seeming far more focused than the man himself. She hovered up over Caius' head and then used Confusion again, hoping that this attack's increased proximity to its target would make it more powerful. And this time she did indeed follow up with a Growl - she just wished those weren't her only two moves.

[It's fine~]
The teenaged trainer rolled his eyes at the Ranger. "How honourable something is doesn't matter. What matters is winning, and only that." Jamie said, unamused by the man's foolishness. "And I highly doubt I'll get into trouble for something so minor as Sand Attack." He turned his attention back to the battle, eyeing the Elgyem as it moved closer to Caius.
"Move under and behind them, Caius." He commanded, and so the Eevee did. He darted underneath the Psychic-type and avoided the Confusion, but the Growl still affected him. He moved back slightly, not wanting to stay close so it would make him easier to attack. Jamie's eyes narrowed.
"Tail Whip, followed by Tackle." The trainer's commands were clear and unemotional. He fully expected his Eevee to win without much effort at all, considering the idiocy displayed by the opposing ranger. A bad teacher made for a bad Pokemon, after all.
Caius followed up, charging toward the Elgyem and whipping his tail in the direction of her face in an attempt to make her lower her defences. Then as soon as he landed he leaped back up, this time aiming to smash into the alien-looking Pokemon with his body.

"Who do you think you are!?" the Ranger growled. "I bet you even use Double Team! You ... cheater!"
This guy was clearly off his rocker, and his Pokemon were paying him no mind. Sentret and Zangoose shrugged, while the Elgyem obviously was more occupied with the battle. The psychic type spun around as Caius scrambled under her ... but then she spun around again as she heard the trainer's commands. Apparently she knew that being unable to see the Tail Whip would make it useless against her. She then hovered up to avoid the Tackle, and smiled - at least, one could be pretty sure that she was smiling. She was an intelligent Pokemon, regardless of her trainer.
She still wasn't happy about the Sand Attack, though - she could barely see the Eevee... She turned to face Caius and attempted another Growl + Confusion combo, but she was not sure if her aim would be accurate ...

Jamie decided to pay no attention to the man, deeming it pointless. It was clear the man wasn't burdened with an over-abundance of intelligence. It would be better to focus on the battle.
"Caius, cover your ears for a moment." He commanded, in order to make the Growl ineffective. After all, what use would it be if he couldn't hear it? Sure it meant that the attack would hit, but in the long term it was better to take the hit and still be able to hit as hard. Caius did as told, putting his paws over his ears and ignoring the effects of the Growl but being hit by the Confusion. He still stood, however, capable of fighting on still.
"Sand Attack, and Tackle again." Jamie told the Eevee as he took his paws off his ears. The Normal-type darted forward, flicking dirt up at the Elgyem's face again before leaping at them and intending to knock them down. The trainer didn't like the fact that Tackle was his only attacking move, he would have to get his hands on a stone or something else that'd evolve him soon.

Ranger Rick obviously was not too happy about being ignored ... but there was not much he could do about it. Unless, of course, he won this battle...! "Elgyem, use...!" But before he could finish issuing the command, he realized that his poor Elgyem was weakened by the hits she'd taken and practically blinded by the sand in her eyes. There was probably no way she could hit the Eevee now. "...nevermind. Change of plans!" In an almost-impressive show of dexterity, he held Elgyem's Pokeball in one hand and called her back, while his free hand produced another Pokeball from his belt and sent out the other Pokemon within. Male | Level 4 Scratch, Foresight, Defense Curl, Pursuit The Sentret squeaked eagerly: <Lemme at 'em!> and the man obliged: "Alright, chase down that Eevee with Pursuit!" The little musteline Pokemon gave an affirmative squeak and barreled toward Caius, swiftly dogging his every step to ensure he could not get away. Jamie let out a low, quiet growl aimed at the Ranger when he saw the man return his Pokemon to it's ball. "Caius, try to dodge!" He commanded, although he fully expected his Pokemon to be smart enough to figure out that dodging would be a good idea on its own.
Caius did, in fact, figure it would be a good idea. He just wasn't quick enough. The Pursuit hit him, sending him flying back to hit the ground and roll along the dirt for just over a meter. His face hit the ground and his fur was covered in dirt, the Eevee groaning in pain.
Jamie looked up at the Ranger. "Hypocrite." He called him, pausing for a second before continuing. "You called my Sand Attack dishonourable, then you turn around and pull that? Is that what Rangers do? Tsk."
The trainer pulled out the Eevee's Pokeball, ready to return them to it, only to realize that Caius still yet stirred. The Pokemon pulled itself back onto his feet, a murderous glare aimed at the Sentret. It was clear that the Pokemon had done something to anger him...
"Heh. You want to continue?"
Caius nodded. <Like hell am I going to lose you! I'll end you for dirtying my fur!> He shouted at the Sentret. Jamie would've smirked at that if he could understand Pokemon talk, but alas he could not.
"Alright then. Tail Whip, then Tackle!"
The Eevee followed his orders, rushing toward the Sentret before stopping with his front paws. He used the forward momentum to swing his body around, aiming to whip his tail in his opponent's face. After turning a full revolution he stopped on his hind legs before pushing off them, aiming to hit the Sentret with all his might.

"Grrr... be quiet!" At this point the ranger had clearly lost his cool - if he'd ever had any to begin with. By now it was obvious to all involved (besides the man himself, one assumes) that this guy had a few screws loose. Even Sentret was beginning to wonder...
...but, seeing as he was currently engaged in a fight, he didn't have much time to think it over. In fact he'd thought too much already: he was hit by the eevee's Tail Whip+Tackle combo and let out a soft yelp. Somehow the little canine, although weakened, still had a lot of strength left in him.
The ranger didn't seem to be impressed, though. "How foolish. You should have called him back. Now Sentret, knock him out!" Sentret nodded and charged at Caius, taking a swipe with his claws; then he performed a quick Defense Curl to offset the earlier tail-whip.
