EINE SCHNELLE HANDEL : A Quick Trade Gertie found that mining in the Terren Caves was rather fun and exciting. She made a point of going as frequently as she was able, eager to unearth all kinds of interesting treasures. The trouble was, of course, that she had somewhat limited bag space, and fossils in particular were rather heavy! She had dug up a neat-looking fossil and initially had intended to make the trip to the Lab to have it reanimated, as she had done with two others, but it occurred to her that her team was already filling up and all without much effort on her part. That was no fun at all! So, the next best thing was making a quick buck.
She'd put out an ad online, and she was very proud of how it had come out. "Selling very heavy fossil!" it had proclaimed. "You bring money to Pokemon Center in port city. Will exchange there." It seemed to her very professional, and she really felt as though her English was improving as she spent time in the region. Even better, she had received a message from an interested party shortly after posting the ad!
Now, Gertie sat cheerfully waiting for the buyer to arrive, perched on one of the tables in the sitting area to the left of the entrance. She swung her legs and hummed a catchy tune, her tail swaying and sparking. A few human locals were giving her strange and even nasty looks, but she pretended not to notice, instead keeping her eyes peeled for the woman who would be bringing her some money. Gertie had mentioned in her message that "you will know who I am when you see," so she wasn't worried about the buyer not spotting her. She did rather stand out in a crowd, after all.

Jolene could not believe her luck! Not only had she finally found a fossil of her own, she'd also found someone who would sell her another! ...Although the ad was a bit strangely-worded. "Port city"? Which city was that ... but thankfully a quick exchange of emails had cleared that up.
The human woman might not have looked as distinctive as Gertie, but she was certainly easy to find if one knew what to look for: a bright-eyed, seemingly middle-aged woman in a lab coat. She had the look of a scientist who had just made an amazing discovery. She heard a clamor and noticed some kind of disturbance, but she was too busy being on cloud nine to give it much thought at first.
...at first. But then her eyes fell upon Gertie, the target of many a judgmental gaze. Was this the girl who had the fossil...? She certainly was easy to spot - just as her message had implied.
Slowly, Jolene approached and gave a greeting wave. "Are you the one with the heavy fossil?"

Gertie noticed Jolene's approach, although it didn't click in her mind that she had found her buyer until the woman actually spoke up; until that point she had been sure that this was just another irritated morphobe. Her expression changed immediately from one of neutrality and boredom to one of excitement and glee. She beamed at Jolene, her beady black eyes sparkling. "Yes! Yes, that is me! I have it!" She hopped from the table and immediately began rummaging through her bag, which she had sat against the table as she waited. Within seconds she was hefting out a fossil that did indeed look, well, heavy.
"Oof," she grunted, lifting it up so that Jolene could examine it, but not handing it over just yet. Though to the untrained eye it looked like nothing more than a big lumpy rock, the smooth dome on top rendered it easily identifiable as a Skull Fossil to one such as Jolene. "Very nice, ja? It must have good Pokemon inside! Worth the money!" At this, she raised her eyebrows pointedly, waiting for the scientist to present the agreed upon amount. Gertie knew just how valuable something like this could be to the right person, and she was settling for a rather low price all things considered, so she wanted to at least get that much before handing over the prize. She was a starving trainer, after all! She couldn't just give it away for free.

Jolene smiled, finding the younger woman's cheerfulness rather infectious. Besides, fossil! She'd always been fascinated by fossil Pokemon. She watched as Gertie produced the specimen from her pack and was immediately entranced.
"Ooh, yes! This is a Skull Fossil. Common name Cranidos, thought to be native to ancient Sinnoh. Omnivorous, I believe. Known to fight with claws and headbutts. Also used the latter to impress potential mates..."
She probably could have gone on like that for hours. Thankfully the Dedenne at her heels knew her well enough to interrupt her with a loud cough, bringing her back to reality.
"...right! Sorry. We agreed on thirty-three hundred, yes?" She smiled and gave the agreed payment to Gertie, then heaved the heavy rock into her bag. "Thank you so much! Please let me know if you find any other fossils you don't want."
Denny rolled his eyes. Hoo boy, his trainer was a handful.

((if you could please generate a key or lockbox for the thread in your next post, that'd be swell!!)) Gertie listened with wide eyes as the scientist babbled on. She clearly knew her stuff, and the information was fascinating, but Gertie found herself desperately attempting to translate as Jolene went along, and she was coming up blank with what "omnivorous" meant. Before the morph could ask any questions, though, Jolene's Dedenne interrupted her and brought the focus back on business and the exchange of goods and currency.
"Oh... oh! Yes! That is right!" She shook her head to snap out of her confused daze, and then smiled down at Denny before turning her brilliant grin back up at Jolene. "You are welcome, and thank you also! I will do that!" Gertie eagerly handed over her heavy treasure, looking pleased with the exchange once she had the significantly lighter payment in her hands. She would totally be able to buy some great Pokefood with all this! Her team loved to eat and she wasn't exactly rolling on dough, so this was excellent.
Thinking of where she might acquire the best food for her Pokemon, Gertie tucked the money into her pocket and pulled her backpack onto her shoulders, wiggling her fingers at Jolene in a wave. She was clearly ready to go if Jolene was done here. "It was nice to meet you! Thank you for money!"
