History:
Galch grew up in Agate Village in the region of Orre, where he was considered somewhat of an oddity due to the fact that he was one of the only children in a town of the elderly. The reason why he lived in such strange circumstances was because he was left at the village's Pokemon Center when he was a baby with a note attached asking to please take care of him and giving his name. While almost all of the townspeople agreed that they should do just that, no one was immediately willing to actually raise him themselves. After talking to each other at some length, one couple decided they that they would raise the boy as they had never had children of their own or even Pokemon. However, this meant that he grew up mostly by himself as there weren't that many children around for him to play with.
The one main interaction he had with other people were watching them have Pokemon battles as trainers would often come to the town to practice against the townspeople who still had their Pokemon. While he never really understood what was going on, Galch loved to watch the battles and at the age of twelve he finally worked up the courage to ask his adoptive parents if he could have a Pokemon. With obvious regret, they told him that a Pokemon was just too expensive since they were rarely found in the wild in Orre and that the region didn't even have a breeding center. While he was initially crushed by this news, Galch soon decided he just wasn't ever meant to have a Pokemon and soon stopped watching the battles altogether.
One other side effect of that interaction was that Galch started to think about money and he started to notice just how monetarily limited they were. Realizing that he was a rather large contributing factor to this, he got a job at the local Poke Mart on his fourteenth birthday to try to help out as much as he could. He continued with this line of work for a few years, until he was seventeen and told his adoptive parents that he was planning on moving out and going to one of the region's larger cities to get a job.
