GRAUCAN GYM : WATER Arina started out in the Decona Region as a penniless immigrant; she arrived after stowing away on a ship which came to port in Graucan. Though her grasp on Common English was weak and she had nothing yet to her name, Arina was crafty and resourceful. She found odd-jobs to do and occasionally stole food when she was in dire need, but slowly she amassed enough money support a Pokemon team of her own, which she had quickly realized was the easiest and most interesting way to make money in Decona. Training was not her passion, but it was her talent, and it was almost too easy for her to succeed and make a name for herself. Through hard work and sheer force of will Arina and her team of locally-caught Pokemon rose to fame and fortune after entering innumerable contests and tournaments and crushing the competition every time. When the Pokemon League offered Arina a steady and paying job as a gym leader in Graucan Port, she was all too quick to take them up on the offer.
Now that she is comfortably wealthy and feels sufficiently confident that she will never be replaced as the Graucan gym leader, Arina spends her time just as she spends her money: frivolously. As soon as she was able she dropped a considerable sum of money at the Pumice Rock Lab to become a Pokemorph, and her Pokemon of choice was a Sneasel, a creature just as sly and crafty as she is. Though the power that came with being more-than-human was certainly a plus, Arina chose to get the injection mostly to assert herself as a member of the upper-class; she similarly chooses to demonstrate her high status by wearing extremely expensive dresses and fur coats and attempting to carry herself as if she is very hoity-toity and well-to-do. Despite her best efforts, though, the truly wealthy of Midocian scoff at her for being foreign and rather rude in both manner and nature, and the working-class of Graucan don't care for her haughtiness and frivolity, nor for her laziness. Arina is very intelligent as a person and in battle, but she tends to be careless right up until the point where she realizes she needs to be serious, at which point she usually feels cornered and gets angry. She is extremely childish, but so far her talents as a trainer have managed to keep her afloat as a gym leader despite her numerous flaws. She avoids her gym like the plague typically, but can be convinced to accept challenges even while on vacation, so prospective challengers are advised to look for her aboard the S.S. Angeli if she cannot be found in her gym.
Defeating Arina will earn victorious challengers a badge, some money (dependent on number of badges acquired previously), and a TM which teaches Hydro Pump.
