Name: Adrienne Species: Snubbull Ability: Intimidate or Run Away Gender: Female Level: 5 Friendship: 5 Moveset: Tackle, Scary Face, Tail Whip, Charm Nature: The Snubbull's most notable trait is her extreme protective nature. When she was still at the Lab, much of her time was spent looking after many of the younger Pokemon, even though she herself was little more than a pup. Her surprising maturity has manifested itself in an almost motherly sort of way when it comes to Avery. She's taken one look at the man and decided that it's her job to look after him and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. She isn't the most keen on fighting, but seems more than willing enough to do so for Avery's sake. Her pushiness, 'tough-love' methods, and overall stubbornness are all bound to cause some sort of trouble, be it with Avery himself or with any future teammates. She only seems to act so harshly because she cares, at least. Met: Lab @ lvl 5 Name: Ambroise Species: Shiny Duskull Ability: Levitate Gender: Male Level: 5 Friendship: 5 Moveset: Leer, Night Shade, Feint Attack Nature: Theoretically, telling how Ambroise is feeling at any given time should be next to impossible. The ghost is either incapable of or unwilling to speak, or, really, make any noise at all, and that skull mask isn't particularly expressive. And yet, there's a certain whimsical quality to the way the Duskull moves, a certain detachment from reality that suggests the spirit is always in some sort of dream state. He's surprisingly affectionate and tends to stick as close as physically possible to Avery at all times, having formed an unspoken bond with the trainer almost immediately, at least on his end. He rarely causes any trouble, and seems to regard Adrienne with little to no care. She doesn't concern him much, and he gives her no real reason to doubt his intentions. The spirit seems to enjoy music, even if it can't create it, and can often be seen making motions that simulate dancing in some way, shape, or form. Met: Buteston Festival of Death @ lvl 5 Name: Aldric Species: Tauros Ability: Intimidate Gender: Male Level: 6 Friendship: 5 Moveset: Tackle, Tail Whip, Rage Nature: Quick to become frustrated, he has the awful temper of most Tauros, paired with quite the superiority complex. He is very proud and vain, unwilling to do anything for another unless he is getting something out of in return. The most positive quality would easily be how loyal he is to those who have proved themselves worthy of it. Met: Denton Fields @ lvl 6
The ginger breathed out a contented little sigh as his boots scuffed along the dusty dirt road leading from the nearby village. He'd only stopped in for the briefest of times to grab a little coffee as well as rest his feet, and, all things considered, it'd probably been his favorite place thus far. The slow pace and small population was the very opposite of the way Lumiose had been, and that appealed to him more than any other area in Decona so far. The lab had been high-tech and a little... odd, to put it politely, and Buteston had been bustling with the energy of the current festival, and very crowded as a result. No, slow and quiet were two qualities that Avery was steadily appreciating more and more, and, so far, this area was looking a lot like the village.
There were more than a few farms and fields lining both sides of the road, many of them simple and unassuming, and the trainer's eye wandered over the various grazing farm Pokemon present in some of these fields. Everything seemed relatively peaceful, but, truth be told, Avery was hoping for something at least a little out of the ordinary. There was a chance for wild Pokemon to be out here, right? It would make sense; he imagined some of them tried to prey on the farm animals for food, or to even simply steal from the various fields. That was logical, yes? Avery hoped so, as that was one of the reasons that he was lingering around here.
The man seemed unoccupied for once; both of his Pokemon were contained in their Pokeballs. It wasn't as if he didn't want them to be out, but, having some peace and quiet for a little bit wasn't bad, either. Adrienne was very protective and had the tendency to fuss over the littlest of things that he did (he had caught her giving a very stern, disapproving look and growl last time he'd lit a cigarette), and Ambroise... The ghost was simply a little odd. He seemed like a cheerful (was that the right word for it?) enough fellow, but there was something about him that unnerved Avery every so often, as if the ghost wasn't quite aware of all aspects of reality.
He was currently occupying his time by reading up on both of the Pokemon he currently had in the Pokedex he'd received, brows knitting together. Reading the older Pokedex entries in particular, before things had been able to be expanded and updated, was particularly fun. The old entries only defined the most common traits in a Pokemon without really expounding upon that information. Adrienne, for example, wasn't necessarily timid. Hell, whenever something even minutely threatening had surfaced, she'd stepped in front of him, growling protectively, though she hadn't sprung directly into a battle. Avery suspected that she wasn't too keen on actually fighting, though he hoped that the Fairy dog would at least be willing to fight if she was needed. She seemed to want to protect him.
The man scrolled down on the current story he was reading on the Pokedex, which told of a pet Snubbull risking themselves in a house fire to make sure a child got out of the house alright. The faintest of smiles lingered on his lips as he found the happy ending at the end of the news story; both child and Pokemon had gotten out safely. Maybe the world wasn't completely full of shit, then. Just mostly.

The fields were bustling with activity that day. Various farmers were busy with their day to day chores, working eternally in their gardens and fields. Pidgey and Spearow flew overhead, cooing softly. A pack of Poochyena had been roaming back and forth for a few hours, but didn't seem willing to cause any herd Pokemon trouble for now.
Everything was perfect.
Of course, perfection is impossible. It is completely and utterly nonexistent. Thus, this so-called state of "perfection" had to be interrupted. The universe had to throw the co-existing community of the fields for a loop. It did a very good job of that in the form of an extremely angry Tauros.
A low rumbling sound slowly crept onto the peaceful scene that was Avery scrolling through his Pokedex. A small rise in the land prevented the sight for a moment, and then suddenly the lumbering form of the Tauros was apparent. It wasn't exactly running- more like stumbling. Occasionally it would kick up dust and pause to buck and snort angrily. Upon closer inspection, something light grey and shiny was completely covering the bull-like Pokemon's eyes and forehead, long white tendrils hanging between its horns.
Earlier that day, he had been minding his own business when he stumbled over the Spinarak's nest. Now, without the help of thumbs, he had no way of removing the String Shot from his eyes. Not only was it painful, but it was completely blinding. He had stumbled around for hours, many Pokemon and farmers attempting to help him, but none were brave enough to actually approach the beast. He was close to exhaustion, his muscular legs obviously shaking, sweat pouring from his flanks. His multiple tails barely even whipped about anymore, they simply drooped.
The poor Pokemon actually began rubbing his face in the dirt in an attempt to pull the web off of himself, but only managed to bring more rubble and grime into it. He bellowed pitifully, rearing on his hind legs, coming dangerously close to the trainer.

Avery was so engrossed in his reading that, at first, he didn't notice the slight rumbling sound of the creature approaching. He was little better than a teenager engrossed in their texting would have been at keeping focused on both the actual, physical world and the world of virtual information. He'd ignored much of the various sights and sounds of the area before the Tauros had gotten close as well, and only the gradual crescendo of angry, frantic stumbling nudged him from his preoccupation, causing him to glance up with brows lofted in obvious confusion.
The Tauros was understandably hard to miss once it did, in fact, come into view. It was pretty damn huge and more than a tad upset, after all. The ginger had never seen the bull Pokemon up close, and was more than a little surprised by the actual size of the creature. Numbers on a web page were one thing, but actually seeing a decently-sized bull charging around was a little more frightening. The trainer tensed up instinctively as the Normal-type made its quick approach, thoughts racing with everything he'd heard about the Pokemon that he could recall quickly. Unsurprisingly, more bad things than good things surfaced immediately, and this did absolutely nothing to calm his nerves.
He didn't realize there was something actually wrong until he noticed the erratic motions of the Normal-type, his look of concern melting into a frown instead as he took in everything. He wasn't so much charging as he was stumbling, and Avery's eyes settled on what he was pawing at and, presumably, what the Pokemon was so frantic and angry about. That webbing covering his eyes looked irritating and annoying at best, and Avery bit faintly at his lip, stuffing his Pokedex into his pocket as he contemplated doing something to help. It was obviously the right thing to do, but... he wasn't sure the Tauros would exactly be willing to allow someone he couldn't even see to try and touch him, let alone remove that painful webbing.
He drew in a sharp breath as the Tauros was suddenly very, very close, and rearing up with a truly pitiful noise escaping from his throat. Avery frowned and backed up slightly, trying to keep his voice calm as he spoke up, trying to be loud enough to get the bull's attention. The beast didn't look as if he could carry on in such a manner much longer; in fact, he looked very much exhausted. Hopefully he was able to listen to reason.
"H-hey, wait a minute...! I might be able to get that webbing off for you.."

The Tauros froze as soon as the human had spoke. He inhaled heavily through flaring nostrils, finally forcing himself to become a little more aware of his surroundings. He breathed in the scent of the human for a few moments. Male, adult. Pokemon trainer, for the scent of Snubull almost blocked out his own. He had smelled many of the male farmers approach him during the day, but none had tried to actually speak to him to calm him down, and thus they had earned his disgust for their cowardice. The human seemed to hesitate, and it really just irritated the bull for some reason. He threw his huge head, snorting in frustration one last time before his front legs folded under him, then the back. He was now very much on the human's level, breathing heavily, and really didn't have the choice of irritation.
He had never been touched by a human. He felt mildly embarrassed he had been reduced to this, but he stretched his neck forward, snuffling his nose along the man's collar. Frothy saliva dripped from the large Pokemon's chin, snot blowing forth from those huge nostrils in a very unbecoming manner. He offered the man one more pitiful bellow, holding his weary head as still as he possibly could to allow Avery to pull off the String Shot.

Avery drew in a sharp little breath as the Tauros heard him, still a little uncertain as to whether the large creature was even friendly or not. He watched with a little apprehension as he seemed to sniff and scent the air around him, fingers curling anxiously as he awaited any sort of physical response from the bull, keeping on edge in case said response was not especially pleasant. That irritated snort almost made him draw back before the Tauros was suddenly down and more at his level. The sight filled him with a pity that overrode his hesitance, and he moved himself closer to the Normal-type, one hand reaching out at first to carefully approach the bull.
His current state was almost repulsive, but that wasn't the bull's fault. He'd understandably been ridiculously worked up over that String Shot, and Avery pulled his coat sleeves back a little as his hand attempted to run its way along the crest of the bull's head briefly. A comforting, soothing motion if nothing else, even as the Pokemon snuffled and sniffed at him. Not much time was wasted on this attempt at a pleasant but useless contact, and his hands soon meandered down to attempt to find a place in that web that he could snag.
His fingers operated with a surprising amount of delicateness as they wandered over the sensitive eye area, nails attempting to get under the edge of the webbing and begin the likely-lengthy process of removing the hindering substance from the bull's face. He put on a little smile as he tried to do this work, voice lowered to a soothing sort level that would hopefully serve to keep the bull calm.
"We'll get this mess off in no time, alright?"

When the human first touched the crest on his head, the Tauros flinched away. The unfamiliar touch was strange at first, but as the human worked on the String Shot gently and spoke to him the bull's breathing pattern became less erratic. Finally his chest was moving in a normal, rhythmic pattern, long drawn out breaths helping him to collect himself mentally. He couldn't lie, the touch of the human and his soft voice was comforting. No human had ever approached him in such a manner. Normally, Tauros seemed to only recieve prejudice from most humans, especially the bulls, because of their tempers. In a way he didn't blame the squishy people- if the Tauros decided to literally destroy the man at that second, he could do it, with ease.
After several minutes, the String Shot was removed and the Tauros blinked big, brown eyes at the man. +Thank you, tiny human.+ He snorted, unsure if people could actually understand or not. But the look in those soft eyes made it very apparent that the Tauros was very thankful.
He thought back to the time in which he had seen human and Pokemon working together. Miltank supplying young women with buckets of milk, Tauros like himself helping plow fields. Ponyta and Rapidash simply giving the slow creatures a quick lift. Then, it clicked. Humans needed them! They were so defenseless and helpless that they needed Pokemon to get them places fast and do their hard labor for them.
But... Sometimes, Pokemon needed people too, didn't they? Just as he had needed Avery, then.
Understanding flooded his eyes, and he bowed his head, not bothering to get up. He would go with this man if the man wanted. He would even allow himself to be taken into one of those little red and white balls. He lifted his head and nuzzled Avery's chest, snuffling carefully, so as to not hurt the squishy thing. He then stood, and dipped down onto two tired front legs in a wobbly attempt at a bow. When everyone else had been afraid, this man had more than proved he was worthy of the Tauros's partnership. Tauros wants to join your party!

The man breathed out slowly in relief as the sticky webbing slowly but surely was pulled from the creature's eyes, glad that the Bull Pokemon seemed to be calming down as he worked. He felt strangely pleased that, for once, he was doing something undeniably good. For once, he was doing something that would definitely be useful. It was a nice feeling when contrasted to the typical disappointment he got when nothing good occurred from good intentions, and for the first time, he felt as if his journeying to the Decona Region was justified. It'd be a good idea after all, even if he still wasn't terribly sure as to what he was doing.
The bull's rumbling wasn't understood, but his general demeanor and that look in his eyes was an almost universal sign of gratitude. Avery smiled and chanced another gentle pat of the large beast's head. Maybe Tauros didn't deserve the particularly bad reputation they got. Sure, they could mess somebody up if they wanted to, but, couldn't that be said of every Pokemon? If pushed, even the tiniest Pokemon could prove itself to be a hazard to other Pokemon or humans. Just as not every human didn't fit the stereotypes of their attributes, so too did Pokemon fail to fall neatly into stereotyped categories. The thought was a pleasant one, and Avery smiled more widely as he dipped his head.
"Don't, uh, mention it. My pleasure."
The next action of the Tauros elicited some sort of curious reaction from Avery; he wasn't really sure what the bull Pokemon was trying to get across. He stumbled back faintly as that great head nuzzled against him, chuckling a little before things finally began to sink in. His eyes widened a little as the great bull stood and bowed, one hand shifting to his pocket to withdraw a Pokeball.
"I... do you want to go with me?" he queried, sounding mildly stunned. He seemed to think on this before making a decision and moving to set the Pokeball down a foot in front of the Tauros, offering a little smile.
"... Uh. If you want to, you can nudge that little button. You'll go inside, but, it'll let you rest for a while, and you'll still be with me."

The Tauros listened carefully to the unintelligible speak the man threw at him, but decided then that humans didn't really speak the same language that all Pokemon, no matter the type or species, seemed to know. He gave one last huff before the man set down the Pokeball. Those little capsules, he had seen them in action. Members of his herd had went on to live with humans. The humans always threw them normally, which he had thought demeaning. Now, he felt powerful, because this was his choice. He lifted his head high, nodding at the human, before dipping it and nuzzling the ball gently. In a flash of red light, he disappeared into the ball.
Tauros has joined your party!
A small distance off, the Farfetch'd who had been watching this whole incident literally fell out of a small patch of undergrowth, cackling madly and rolling on the ground in hysterics. +So the King has finally fallen! Bahahahaha! Good riddance!+
He knew the Tauros well, for they had often butted heads about where the Farfetch'd liked to keep his sticks. If he wanted his big pile of sticks to be right in that Tauros's bed, that's right where he'd put them! He had issues with authority, and the Tauros seemed to have issues with being authoritative. The little bird regained his composure before stomping up to the human. +Now, you should probably leave. Go closer to the farms, now that that old jerk is gone, this is all mine.+ He motioned to the surrounding area in a circular motion with his free wing.
Then, he lifted one wing, and threw his stick right at Avery's head.

Avery felt very content as he picked up that newly-filled Pokeball, almost grinning as he turned it over in his hand and inspected it carefully. The Tauros would hopefully prove to be a great member of his team; Avery wasn't sure precisely how well he'd get along with Adrienne and Ambroise, but, he was hopeful that he'd fit into their little group structure. There was certainly something about the large bull that made him interesting, and, had he not been so tired, the trainer would have likely brought him out once again and begun to try to get more acquainted with his new partner.
Things had only quieted down for the briefest of moments before the man's attention was drawn by that squawking sort of cackle, and his eyes scanned the road until they fell upon the Farfetch'd who'd very literally fallen over laughing at... him? The man was confused, but he wasn't going to draw attention to it and question the bird's sense of humor. He wasn't expecting the small Pokemon to come stomping its way over towards him, and he drew back slightly apprehensively. He didn't look as if he wanted to give the ginger a hug.
The bird's speech was unintelligible, and Avery's brow furrowed, though he suspected whatever had been said wasn't welcoming or polite. In fact, the bird's body language, from what he could gather, looked quite unwelcoming. The Pokemon seemed to sweep its wing around to gesture at the surrounding area before staring at him pointedly, and Avery blinked before shrugging, beginning to speak uncertainly.
"I... do you want me to leave, or do y-- a-ack!"
A stick to the face was a great (albeit painful) way to interrupt someone, and the satisfying "thwack" of said stick connecting right with Avery's nose wasn't quite as satisfying to the man, who drew back and uttered a very unrefined swear under his breath. It wasn't anything serious, but damn if that hadn't hurt like a son of a bitch. He blinked watering eyes a few times to compose himself, free hand rummaging in his bag for a random, occupied Pokeball. Hopefully one of his Pokemon could help him understand what was going on.
Luckily for him, Adrienne manifested out of the Pokeball, blinking and looking about in slightly confusion. Her gaze eventually settled on Avery still holding his currently-bruised nose, before falling to the leek resting nearby and the Farfetch'd. She was thankfully far more perceptive about things than Avery, and she bared her teeth in a snarl, hurrying forwards and seeking to get way too close to the Farfetch'd for comfort, though she made no actual offensive maneuver.
+Oi! What's the big idea, throwin' a stick at his head? What'd he ever do t'you, huh?+ she growled out fiercely, stubby little arms crossing as she glared at the bird with her large eyes, floppy ears drawn back. Avery shook his head and withdrew his hand from his face, blinking at the fierce little Fairy-type and hoping that this hadn't actually been a terrible idea rather than a smart one.

Cackling madly, the little bird marched over to pick up his fallen leek. Of course he had hit the human right in the face. He never missed when he threw his stick. At least, he hadn't missed any today...
When the annoying Snubbull manifested in front of him, he simply blinked in a bemused manner. Snickering to himself, he shook his head at her. +Look, this guy here helped me out a lot. I appreciate him for getting that dumb Tauros out of my way. But now, he has to go away, far away, I've got a really big plan for a big pile of leeks right where he's standing, and I very well can't do it when he's standing on the exact spot I'm planning to pile my sticks!+ He squawked at her, before raising that awful leek once more, and bringing it down in an attempt to bop her painfully on her small head.
He really didn't care if she retaliated. She was just a dumb Fairy. What could this little pink thing do to him? All bark and no bite.

Adrienne, to be frank, didn't really care what the little bird's explanation was. No one threw a leek at her trainer's head and got away with it, no sirree! She didn't even really register the words of the creature (a Tauros? No way Avery had dealt with a Tauros without anyone's help), though she snorted rather derisively at the bird's insistence that Avery leave. Ears flicking back, she let out another growl, puffing herself up and standing extra tall to attempt to look intimidating, sharp teeth still bared in a snarl that was, truth be told, at least scarier than the rest of her bravado. It was hard to actually look scary when you were a pink fairy dog thing.
The canine was thankfully more perceptive that Avery, and actually attempted to sidestep and grab that stupid stick from the Farfetch'd. She fixed him with a sharp glare as another little growl rippled from her throat, doing her very best to Intimidate him before any sort of battle had even officially started. Her words held a very clear warning, and those large eyes glinted threateningly as she spoke:
+Look, buddy, you swing that stick ONE more time...+
Avery merely stared at the two Pokemon, taking a few steps back to give them room. It looked as if Adrienne was going to try to battle the FLying-type, and he didn't want to be caught in the middle of a Pokemon battle. He wanted to be able to give commands if it came to that, of course, but, that didn't mean he had to be right in the middle of the action. He frowned faintly, gaze shifting from bird to dog and back and forth a few times.
"... Um."

Fury spread through the bird's body when the Snubbull caught his leek. They stood for a moment, flames dancing in the Farfetch'd's eyes before he yanked his precious stick away from the awful bitch. He cradled it in both wings for a moment, coping softly, before he stomped closer to the Fairy-type, shoving his beak in her face.
All the snarling and ear pinning did little to impress the Farfetch'd. The aggressive little flying-type simply stood on his tiptoes and ruffled his feather, puffing up his own chest out to compare to the Snubbull. He was rather intimidated for a moment, and before the battle - which was inevitable - had even began, he felt his attack lowering drastically. He smoothed his ruffled feathers and squawked angrily at the Snubbull.
With narrowed eyes, he lifted his stick straight up in the air. There was a moment's hesitation before he swung it back and forth twice directly in front of the Snubbull before sticking out his tongue, and cackling giddily.

Adrienne liked to pride herself on keeping a level head at all times, but this simply was not the actual case whatsoever. She had quite a temper when things didn't precisely go her way, or when something threatened anything she cared about. This Farfetch'd had the honor of pissing her off on both accounts, even if Avery wasn't actually in any true danger from a bossy bird with a branch. The Fairy Pokemon bared her sharp little teeth as she watched the Farfetch'd stand up right back at her, also seeming less than impressed at his display. It was a little funny how similar their mannerisms were, and even Avery noticed this. He found it very curious indeed.
The Farfetch'd made the first official "move" in Adrienne's eyes by waving that stick in direct retort to her threatening words, and that was that. There was now a very real chance for blood to spill. Those little feet wasted no time in waiting for something as petty as a command from Avery, oh no; they lunged her body right at that feathered buffoons, with the intent of slamming into him in a Tackle. A sharp little bark escaped her throat, and the canine didn't even bother to make any sort of strategic move. Strategy wasn't exactly her forte; Avery might actually be able to help with that.
The aforementioned ginger just kind of stared for a moment, before realizing that, hey, maybe he should be giving some commands. His brain worked at an alarming pace as it tried to recollect the moves he knew the Snubbull to already have. Tackle was obviously one of them, and, if he remembered, the only move actually capable of doing damage. ... What were the others? ... This might be a problem.
His words echoed his thoughts as he continued to ponder this dilemma. "... Shit."

The Farfetch'd didn't even have time to react before the Fairy-type launched herself at him. It knocked him off his feet with an undignified series of squawks. He attempted to beat her back with his wings, scrambling to his feet, never losing grip of that precious leek. +Look lady, you're insane!+ He cawed at her shrilly before prancing a few feet away from her, leaving behind dirtied feathers in the dirt.
He beat his small wings in a furious manner, stirring up a great cloud of dust. With one more harsh flap he propelled the cloud towards her, hoping to nearly blind her with the Sand Attack. He hopped towards her behind the concealment of the cloud, flapping his wings and squawking. He narrowed his eyes and dove forward in an attempt to Peck the other Pokemon. Farfetch'd was hit by Tackle! Farfetch'd used Sand Attack! Farfetch'd used Peck!

Avery was a little impressed with the power behind that Tackle, he had to admit. The little Fairy dog was certainly more than capable of quite literally throwing her weight around, even if it wasn't exactly the most refined sort of battle technique. The beating of the Farfetch'd's wings wasn't a pleasant thing to endure, and Adrienne did her best to steady herself and stumble back as quickly as she could, sharp little growls rumbling from her throat all the while.
+Me? You're the one that started this, don't even say anything!+ she growled out fiercely, momentarily distracted from important things such as dodging or watching for attacks. That dust cloud was noticed just a little too late, and though she closed her eyes quickly, some of that irritating dirt and sand got into her eyes, causing discomfort and making her eyes water and blur. She bared her teeth and snarled sharply, pausing any sort of planned attack and shifting to paw at her eyes, trying to clear the troublesome particles from her eyes. The Peck landed right on her left shoulder, and she let out a sharp little yelp, though she didn't stumble back.
She used the fact that the bird had had to get close to her to Peck her to her advantage, rushing forward with her eyes still closed in an attempt to collide painfully with him in yet another Tackle while he was still close, going all-out this time. She had no real time to stop and attempt any other type of attack at them oment, and, even if she had, she wasn't exactly thinking things through that clearly at the moment. No, Avery was going to have to man up and start issuing some commands if he wanted things to go more smoothly. A pity, then, that he was still thinking on the last few moves the Snubbull had.
Adrienne was hit by Sand Attack and Peck! Adrienne used Tackle!
